Book Cover Design

I redesigned the book cover for Martin Amis' "Money: a suicide note" using only typography. It was challenging to convey the book's message using strictly type, but I managed to create a successful design solution. This book is about a man's fall from an aspiring movie director to a life full of greed, lust, and substance abuse. I have the first "Money" in pure white, with a clean serif typeface, to represent his life at the beginning of the book. The word then morphs and shifts hue more as we reach the bottom until the word "Money" is completely distorted, faded, and bright red. This represents his fall into addiction and his life crumbling beneath his feet. The bright red symbolizes lust and anger, two feelings the main character often feels near the end of the book. I repeated the distorted "money" graphic on the back and spine of the book, since it's the most visually interesting on the front cover.
