The objective of this project was to implement photographed/scanned textures into a front cover design & two spot illustrations for the New Yorker. I had to choose an article to base my illustrations on, so I chose "Dumbphone Users Have Lost Their Minds" from WIRED. The article is about how integrated our phones are into our lives, so people switching over to "dumbphones" are shocked by the switch. I illustrated a phone connected to parts of the person's brain, then connecting down to their eyes, nose, and mouth, to represent the intense connection we have with our smartphones. In my illustrations, I used photos of a blanket, a fringe jacket, tin foil, a waffle shirt, and foam for texture.
